Hello DKS Families, It really was great to see our Panthers back at school today! Hopefully, we will be able to get back into a routine soon. We do apologize for any inconvenience caused by the bus transportation delays due to the road conditions and our switch to “paved roads only”. The safety of our students is our top priority, and we appreciate your understanding during these weather-related challenges. We do anticipate having to utilize more “paved road only” days coming up. So, if you are not sure where your drop off/pick up location is, please contact the bus garage. 269-623-1515. We will be on a “paved road only” schedule for AM and PM routes on Thursday, January 25th. If there is a need for a “delay” or “school cancellation” for any reason that decision will be made in the morning. For now, please plan for Thursday AM/PM to be “paved roads only” Thank you, Delton Kellogg Administration

Hello DKS Families, Thank you for your patience and flexibility this morning. Our PM routes today (Wednesday) will be paved roads only. If you do not know this drop-off/pick up location, please call the bus garage. 269-623-1515. Bus drivers will not release students to walk down the dirt roads, if there is not a parent waiting to pick up. If you live on a dirt road and need to make alternate arrangements, please do so. Again, thank you for your patience. It was nice to see all of our students back this morning! And, please thank your bus driver when you see them! Thank you, Dr. Damico

Did you know the Detroit Lions and the United Way were founded in 1934?! Because of this, the Barry County United Way is doing a Lions fundraiser to celebrate this incredible season! With a goal of $1,934 (get it, 1934!), the proceeds will go to Youth Football Programs across Barry County. This is HUGE, especially for our new Middle School football team! Please consider participating, I know I am in! LET'S GO LIONS!

Two Hour Delay
DK Panther Fans, What an interesting winter athletic season we are currently experiencing, eh? Just a heads up that all events and practices are shut down for today (1-23-24). The main roads are doing OK but some of our back roads and a majority of our gravel roads are impassible. Please stay safe out there and we will do everything that we possibly can do, given the time frames allowed, to reschedule all of our events that were scheduled for today. Stay tuned. Thanks and Go Panthers!!

Panther Fans, Given the bit of chaos that we all went through last week, there will be a handful of rescheduled events coming up. We will make every attempt to reschedule every event and get that information to all of you in a timely fashion. We will try and send them out one at a time, as best we can, so as to not create confusion with your schedules as we move forward. First up is the JV wrestling Invite at TK, which was originally scheduled on January 15th It has been rescheduled for Monday, January 29th with a 5:00 pm start. Thanks and Go Panthers!!

Panther Fans, Update for today, 1/17/24, and Athletic events. The Varsity Wrestling Quad at Allegan has been rescheduled for Wednesday, January 31st. due to insufficient practice times and weigh-in issues for all four schools. The JV/Varsity Boys Basketball games vs Bellevue at DK have been postponed and will be rescheduled at a later date. Bellevue has a No School/No Event policy. Practice schedules for today will be announced at noon if allowed. Keep in mind, those, if held, would be Varsity Only, Optional, practices. Thanks for staying tuned for all of these changes over this past week. We have found ourselves in a very interesting time, that is for sure. Thanks and Go Panthers!!

Snow Day
DKHS Students and Parents, I hope this message finds you well. As we approach the final exam period, I wanted to bring to your attention a few important considerations that the DKHS staff have considered in light of recent disruptions caused by snow days. We will operate under the following guidelines: Impact of Snow Days on Review Days: The unexpected snow days have unfortunately led to the cancellation of several review days that were initially planned to help students prepare for their final exams. We understand the significance of these review sessions and acknowledge the challenges this may pose for both students and teachers. Demonstrating Grace to Students: In recognition of the unforeseen circumstances, we would like to extend a gesture of grace to our students. We believe in supporting our students during these challenging times and understand the additional stress caused by the disruption to the regular schedule. DKHS staff have agreed to err on the side of extending grace to all of our students. This may look different in each classroom, but the underlying theme of grace will apply across the board. Honoring Students' Efforts: We highly value the efforts and hard work that students have put into their studies throughout the semester. It is important for us to acknowledge and honor their dedication, considering the unexpected challenges they have faced. We are working to allow for all final exams to happen but if we experience additional snow days this may get more complicated. (see more info below) Schedule: Wednesday-Review (half-day for students) Thursday-1st and 2nd-hour exams (half-day for students) Friday-3rd and 4th-hour exams (half-day for students) Monday-No School (Teacher PD) Tuesday-5th and 6th-hour exams (Full day of school, students will start their new schedules in the afternoon) However, if we end up with another closure, teachers are prepared to waive and/or further modify exams. End-of-course exams are a way for students to demonstrate their understanding and mastery of course concepts. A student might be in a situation where the exam will help them to improve their overall grade. In this case, we would absolutely want to give that opportunity. Please dress warmly, it is cold outside! If you have your own water bottle, please bring that as well. And, while we will make every effort to support you, please do your best to be prepared for your exams. If you have any questions, please email me, nick.damico@dkschools.org, or your child's teacher. Thank you, Dr. Damico #OneDelton

DK Panther Fans, Just a quick heads up that ALL athletic activities and practices scheduled for this afternoon (1/15.24) have been canceled due to the lovely, balmy temps that we are currently experiencing as well as the condition of many of our back roads. Please be safe, stay warm and we'll keep you posted on any of our upcoming events as we move forward. Thanks and Go Panthers!!

Snow Day 3
Attention Panther Fans, Mother Nature continues to cause a ruckus with the scheduling of Athletic events this week. The latest update is as follows: The JV Boy's Basketball game at DK vs Saugatuck (1/11/24) has been MOVED TO Saugatuck with a 4:00 pm tip. This game will no longer be played at DK. Friday's Varsity Girls and Boys Basketball games at Saugatuck have been CHANGED TO Thursday, January 11th with a 5:30 pm tip for the Girls and a 7:00 pm tip for the Boys. Due to the potential winter storm that has been forecast for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with the potential for a shortage of officials on Thursday, are a couple of reasons for making the schedule changes. Thanks, in advance, for your willingness to be flexible with your schedules as we attempt to get these competitions in, during what has become a pretty goofy week! Friday's wrestling and comp cheer events and Saturday's wrestling events are still on as scheduled. We will continue to provide updates as we move forward. Stay tuned, be safe, and Go Panthers!!
