Green Team

Advisor – Clint Waller

Delton Kellogg is the only district in Barry County to receive a Michigan Green Schools Emerald certification.  Our beautiful eighty acre campus includes a rich mixture of habitats including wetlands, meadows, and woodlands.  The staff and students of DK have achieved environmental goals that include protecting the air, land, water, and animals both on campus and on a global scale.  We participate in a campus-wide recycling effort, offer a summer lake-study class, environmental science class, maintain a habitat trail that includes bluebird and wood duck houses, native plantings, and interpretive signage.  We’ve received grants to support both a solar array and wind generator, and are actively pursuing a campus energy reduction plan.

In addition, Delton Kellogg is a proud Arbor Day supporter and through the generosity of community members like Mrs Marge Martin provides every Delton Kellogg Elementary student a White Pine sapling each spring.

Delton Kellogg Schools supports its campus Green Team.  Beginning in elementary, environmental stewardship is learned by doing.  Students maintain building recycle centers that include stations for batteries, juice pouches, plastic, and paper.  The High School team plans and implements projects like the development of the Harry Stolt Nature Trail, pop can solar convection heaters, Earth Week activities, native plantings, and a bird/bat program.  All are welcome to participate including community members.  Send Mr. Clint Waller an email with inquiries.
