Congratulations to the Delton Kellogg/Thornapple Kellogg/Hastings Girls Swimming and Diving Team’s 200 yard Freestyle Relay for placing 19th in the Division I State Swimming Championships at Oakland University this past weekend.  Swimming on the relay team, which also set a new school record, were Hayley Bashore, Abby Gray, Kate Haywood, and Lauren Kroells.


Congratulations to the members of the Delton/Kellogg/Thornapple Kellogg/ Hastings Girls’ Swimming and Diving Team for their outstanding performances in the O.K. Rainbow Conference II Meet that was conducted this past weekend.  Out of the eight teams in the Conference, and despite every swimmer and diver getting her personal best time or score, the DK/TK/H Team took second place to the Caledonia/Lowell/South Christian Co-op team by one-half (1/2) point, with the final score being Caledonia – 354.5 points, DK/TK/H – 354 points.
In the meet, Hayley Bashore took first in the 500 yard freestyle, while setting a new Team record, and the 200 yard Freestyle Relay team of Abby Gray, Lauren Kroells, Kate Haywood, and Hayley Bashore qualified for the Division I State Meet at Oakland University.
Those same four girls received All-Conference awards in recognition of their times in the Conference Meet events!

The members of the Delton Kellogg/Thornapple Kellogg/Hastings Girls’ Swimming & Diving Team celebrated Seniors and Parents Night in a big way with a 102 to 79 victory over the team from Coldwater High School last evening.  It was the final dual meet of the 2016 season for seniors Haley Bashore, Lauren Kroells, and Samantha Richardson, all of whom took first places in their events.
Also taking first places were TKHS girls Holly Bashore, Abby Gray, and Daisy Nowinsky; while Hastings girls Grace Beauchamp, Kate Haywood, and Belle Youngs placed first in their events.

Congratulations to the Delton Kellogg/Thornapple Kellogg/Hastings Girls’ Swimming & Diving Team members for some great performances in last night’s meet against the team from Ionia High School.  The DK/TK/H girls won the meet by a score of 97 to 74, with TKHS girls Hayley Bashore, Abby Gray, and Lauren Kroells; and Hastings girls Kate Haywood, Samantha Richardson, and Belle Youngs all taking first places in their events. DKHS sophomore Anna Bassett took a third place in the Diving event.

The O.K. Rainbow II Conference Meet with seven teams was conducted at the Hastings Community Center over the weekend, and the Delton Kellogg/Thornapple Kellogg/Hastings Girls’ Swimming & Diving Team turned in outstanding performances.  Not only did the team members improve their personal bests, the team achieved a strong second place finish, and:

– the Medley Relay (Kate Haywood, Libby Betcher, Abby Gray. and Lauren Kroells) qualified to go to the Division I state meet,
– the 200 yard Freestyle Relay (Libby Betcher,Jennifer Tuokkola, Hayley Bashore, and Lauren Kroells) set a new school record and qualified to go to the Division I state meet
– Jennifer Tuokkola was the event champion in the 500 yard Freestyle event and set a new school record
– Hayley Bashore was the event champion in the 100 yard Freestyle event
– All four divers (Macey Acker, Sierra Cornett, Raelee Olson, and Caytie Sprague) qualified to dive in the Regional Diving Meet
– Hayley Bashore, Libby Betcher, and Jennifer Tuokkola were selected to the O.K. All-Conference Team, and Abby Gray, Kate Haywood, and Samantha Richardson just missed being selected for that honor

The Delton Kellogg/Thornapple Kellogg/Hastings Girls’ Swimming and Diving Team scored a 91 to 68 win over the team from Fremont High School on Thursday evening in the last dual meet of the season.  That win brings the DK/TK/H Team’s season record to 8 wins and 2 losses.  Taking first places in the meet were:

The next contest for the girls is the Conference Meet on Friday and Saturday, November 6 and 7 at the Community Center.

The meet was the annual “Cancer Awareness Meet’ for the Team, and several hundred dollars were raised for the American Cancer Society, as well as having the opportunity to honor those persons whose lives have been touched by cancer.

The next home meet for the girls is at 6:00 on Thursday evening at the Community Education and Recreation Center.  The meet is against the team from Wayland Union High School, and is the annual “Cancer Awareness” meet…..it also will be a meet to honor  special guests from the local age-group swimming programs.

The next meet for the girls is an away meet against Eaton Rapids High School at 6:00 pm on Tuesday evening, October 20.  Then on Thursday, October 22, at the Community Education and Recreation Center, the DK/TK/H team will take on Wayland at home for its annual “Cancer Awareness Meet.”


Congratulations to the Delton Kellogg/Thornapple Kellogg/Hastings High School Girls’ Swimming & Diving Team members who joined with the team members from Wayland Union High School to have a “Beat Cancer” Meet on Thursday evening.  The theme of the meet was: Support the Fighters, Admire the Survivors, Honor the Taken, and NEVER EVER GIVE UP HOPE!
Each event was preceded by announcing the names of persons affected by cancer for whom the event was dedicated.  The names of the persons to be honored were submitted by the members of both teams.  In addition, the members of both teams collected several hundred dollars of donations that will be sent to the American Cancer Society.
Taking first places in the meet from TKHS were Haley Bashore, Abby Gray, and Lauren Kroells, while Grace Beauchamp, Kate Haywood, and Samantha Richardson from Hastings High School also took first places.
The DK/TK/Hastings Team won the meet with a score of 105 to 78, but everyone who participated in the meet were winners by dedicating their efforts to all of those family members and friends affected by cancer.
